Sonion has been a leading supplier of miniature electromechanical components to the hearing industry since 1974. Providing a complete line of volume controls, switches, trimmers and programming systems Sonion is the industry's preferred supplier.
Volume Controls
Volume Controls continue to be requested by the hard-of-hearing, since it enables them to control the listening levels in their given listening environment.
With a wide choice of taper shapes and values, housing shapes and sizes, and colors, Sonion covers all hearing instrument applications. We offer two types of Volume Controls:
- Our analog Volume Control has end-stop and optional on/off switches integrated. End users appreciate the ability to feel the end-stop, defining the maximum or minimum gain setting of the hearing instrument.
- Our digital Volume Control offers the possibility to define a gain setting for start-up of the hearing instrument. It eliminates the need for a separate A/D converter and allows for remote control of the gain.
Switches
Switches are used for a number of different functions in hearing instruments, and Sonion’s big selection of different Switches covers them all.
- For Behind-The-Ear (BTE) devices, the traditional Rotary Switch gives the end user the possibility to select input source between microphone and telecoil.
- For both In-The-Ear (ITE) and Behind-The-Ear (BTE) devices, switches like push buttons are needed to change between the different programs in the hearing instrument.
- Toggle switches are used for on/off or for Microphone/Telecoil selection.
Connector Systems
When programmable hearing instrument technology was developed, Sonion was an integrated partner providing the necessary Connector Systems, which are IEC standardized.
As a partner, Sonion is providing the manufacturers of hearing instruments with advanced connector systems and innoative solutions. This has enabled several successful hearing instrument launches and customizations have been frequent.
Trimmers
Trimmers are used to set the electroacoustic properties of the hearing instruments. Initially used for analog hearing instruments, the trimmers are now also used in digital hearing instruments, where programming is done by adjusting the trimmers.
Sonion offers a wide range of 2.54 mm [0.1"] trimmers which makes it easy to change component type without changing mechanical design.
Our 1.9 mm trimmers save 56% area compared to the 2.54 mm versions while performance remains the same.
Accessories
Screws, nuts, bolts etc. are necessary when looking at the entire solution for hearing instruments. Hearing instrument accessories can either be parts which fasten the component to the hearing instrument, parts that ease the mounting process or helps remove hearing instrument components, or it can be tools like customized screwdrivers.
Sonion has nearly every hearing instrument accessory you need to complete the job.
Faceplates
Faceplates are the main mechanical building blocks in ITE (In-The-Ear) hearing instruments.
Sonion´s selction of faceplates covers all three battery sizes: 10A, 312 and 13. For programmable systems, choose 10 IS, 12 IS, 13 IS or the fully modular CU 10.
The CU is comprised of all mechanical functions required in an ITC (In-The-Canal) or even CIC (Completely-In-the-Canal) hearing instrument. This includes push bottom, the programming interface, battery door and springs, and also the 6074 or 6374 microphone. |
